Thoughts

I was so sorry to learn this news through the OMT News Sheet, having been with Julian first at York House and then at MTS. That shock of very fair hair, and his perpetual outgoing cheerfulness, always made Julian a delight to see, whether in the classroom or on the playing field. These attributes clearly grew into something very special. My sympathies to his partner Doey and to Julian's sisters, family and friends. Jonathan Duck

I will always remember my first meeting with Julian ( at The Man of Kent of course ! ), shortly after the discovery that he actually owned a small square of land in our garden, due to a boundary issue with the previous owners. Not only did he handle this matter with tact and diplomacy, but we became good friends and neighbours as a result. I will very much miss him - socialising at the MoK and our ad hoc bbq’s in particular are such fond memories for me. Julian was a true gent in every sense, also a generous and kind soul who was well regarded by all. I’m honoured that I can think of him as a friend, although I write this with much sadness and a heavy heart – I will treasure these memories of Julian and remember him always as the warm and friendly person I grew to know. Geoff.

Julian, thank you for so many happy memories. I sit here picturing you and all I can do is smile. You just had that knack. For the effortless way you had of looking for the good in everything, your fun, your enthusiasm, the way you gave your time and energy to the OMT's and all your passions I can only say a bucketful of thanks. Thanks you for everything Hartley you really were one of the best.
