A common thread through all my dealings with Julian over the past 40 years has been that he was kind and generous to everyone he came across, but above all else, I will remember him as someone who was good fun to be with. This was equally true whether we were propping up the bar at Durrants after cricket or relaxing in the Man of Kent after a board meeting in more recent years. I am desperately sad that those occasions are now in the past, but they will live on long in my memory.
